jonathanlikespotatoes-deactivat asked: Okay.
You have 25 minutes in a room with one person from the Bible. Who do you pick to talk to and what would you ask them? Jesus is not an option. :)

“Jonah deliberately disobeyed God. He would rather die than do what God told him....”
– My summary of chapel this morning. Note that the speaker said Jonah saw the fall of Israel and saw the Assyrians destroy the city, and I have summarized with that idea. However, the dates don’t quite match up, as Jonah was prophet to the king some 30 years before the fall of Israel. He may...

I am Sad
But I’m going to go eat falafel with my Arabic class. I won’t pretend to be happy but I know I’ll feel better once I’m around people. I think that’s a good thing. If you must know why I’m sad: http://wp.me/pfvSc-2n But it isn’t anything new.

“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray...”
– Romans 8:26 Last week, I felt so confused and jumbled up that I did not even know what to ask prayer for, if I ever got the courage to ask for prayer. In the same day, two friends pointed me to this verse when I told them I felt messed up but didn’t know what to ask for or say.

China and Israel
Eileen: Is it like a remnant of the remnant?
Me: Well, there are the Lost Tribes of Israel. No one knows what happened to all the tribes besides Judah and Benjamin.
Eileen: Sorry to disrupt your studying.
Me: I'm studying the same thing.
Anna: I'm not! I'm trying to learn about China over here...is the "King" Dynasty?
Eileen: How's it spelled?
Anna: Q-I-N-G.
Eileen: "Ching," I think it's "Ching."
Me: Hey, the Qiang people of China claim to be one of the Lost Tribes!

Dibs the Roommate
(Pseudonyms have been used)
Shirley: Georgia needs to room with someone who is okay with a lot of clutter. *points to Luna*
Luna: What? I like my clutter organized!
Ginny: Hey! I dibsed Luna as my roommate! No one else can have her!
Luna: Yeah, she's dibsed me for like a year...
Shirley: So that's what they're calling it these days...
Ginny: I dibsed her Christmas last year.
Luna: Yeah.
Shirley: I had dibs long before you did because she was my roommate last year.
Ginny: I dibsed her while she was your roommate.
Shirley: (to Luna) YOU CHEATED!!!!
Ginny: You left her!
Shirley: She left me!
Luna: Because you said you were moving out!
Shirley: I said I wanted to, not that I was going to!
Ginny: She dumped you and cheated on me because...never mind.

Awkward.
Me: (Referring to a guy) We want to have an Avatar marathon, but we don't know where to watch it. If we watch it in here, there's no place to sit, except--
Roomie: On your bed?
Me: Yeah, and that's awkward, so...
Roomie: You really think it'll be awkward?
Me: Yeah...um, so, then after that I'm going to go work on my group project, and then I'll do all the homework I've neglected for the past four days.
Roomie: Just make your bed and steal my pillow and make sure there's some space between you, and it'll be fine. I'll be sure to come in and make some super awkward comment.
Me: Yeah...no.
(In case you're wondering...we sat on the floor.)

EK: Boo. I just bought some headbands and they don't stay on my head. Why'd I get a head shaped like this? I blame the hairline.
KK: i'm sorry. it's my head. so i just use duct tape. that is also a quick way to alter your hairline. as far as exercize, i try to tense my butt muscles once a day.
DH: It's my fault. Should have told you to get the ones with the sticky substance.
KK: So now that your mother and your aunt have taken the blame, you can move on in life with your straight hairline. Bottom line-you need sticky substances.
DH: I am 45 and just recently discovered that I have a strange bend of hair on my scalp on the back of my head. I think this must mean I don't look at the back of my head very much at all. Whose fault is that?

I think the other Elizabeth thing has failed.
Yeah…I kind of lost interest…(lost interest in the very varied history of my own name…haha) I was going to add Elisabeth Eliot to the list. But…I am going to post other things.

Driving
Me: I think, if you can come, I'd feel more comfortable with that than driving your car.
Roomie: Man! People need to buck up! Everyone's so intimidated by a truck!
Me: No--I--its--okay. I don't like driving at all. Not really. And I've never driven in La Mirada. And I've never driven a truck.
*silence*
Me: I just got myself into driving your truck in La Mirada, didn't I?
Roomie: You can drive to church on Sunday!

Confession
Sometimes I get frustrated and imagine God as an imperious father who critically and sternly demands that I love him perfectly and cheerfully and wholeheartedly before he’ll show me any love. I know it isn’t true. I have only to think thirty seconds before I remember the incredible ways God has blessed me and my family. I think a little longer and I remember that He gave everything...
